ImageWare Biometric Products

The key to any secure environment is knowing exactly who is in it—and the most accurate identifiers are biometric in nature. The cornerstone of ImageWare's biometric product line is its IWS™ Biometric Engine® which can perform multimodal searches using several types of biometrics. It can be used on a standalone basis or incorporated into a number of custom applications or other ImageWare identification and digital imaging solutions. Regardless of the application, all ImageWare biometric technologies are multi-biometric, meaning they are vendor-independent and support virtually any biometric hardware and algorithm.

ImageWare biometric products include:

IWS™ Biometric Engine®: A scalable, agnostic multi-biometric identity management solution that ensures only valid individuals gain access to controlled areas. The IWS™ Biometric Engine is available as a fully functional Web-based enrollment and identification application or as an SDK that enables it to be integrated into a variety of applications such as national ID, border control, watch list, voter registration, driver license, airport security and more.

The IWS™ Biometric Engine conducts 1:1 biometric searches to verify an individual's identity; 1:n searches to identify an individual within a population; and x:n investigative searches against watch lists and/or black lists. It is vendor independent and supports virtually any biometric algorithm and hardware and can manage tens of millions of individuals using standard off-the-shelf hardware.

IWS™ Desktop Security: A comprehensive authentication management infrastructure designed to provide computer networks with the most advanced authentication mechanisms including biometrics (face, fingerprint, iris, voice and signature), RFID technology, USB tokens, Trusted Platform Module (TPM), and smart cards. Utilizing IWS Desktop Security, organizations are able to replace passwords, strengthen user authentication, condense existing authentication technologies and oversee authentication policies for the entire network environment. IWS Desktop Security is highly scalable and can be effortlessly integrated into any security network environment.

IWS Desktop Security supports:

  • Both BioAPI and BAPI standards
  • File and folder encryption
  • Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003
  • Single-sign on that securely manages Internet Explorer and Windows application ID and password information

IWS™ EPI™ Builder: IWS EPI Builder is a software developer's kit that enables software engineers to create custom identification solutions or incorporate ID functionality into existing applications. IWS EPI Builder is used to create everything from simple, corporate ID cards to passports, driver licenses, transit cards, national medical cards, national IDs and more.

IWS EPI Builder supports virtually any biometric and has plug and play capabilities with a variety of biometric capture devices and readers. This enables developers to quickly and easily switch from one biometric to another or exchange devices to meet customer requirements.

IWS™ EPI™ Suite: ImageWare’s shrink-wrapped ID software that enables users to:

  • Create single or dual-sided custom card designs
  • Encode bar codes, magnetic stripes and smart chips
  • Search for and reprint cards
  • Enhance card security with tamper-resistant design features

IWS EPI Suite can encode finger and facial biometric minutia into smart chips or 2D bar codes. This data can then be retrieved to verify that the biometric data on the card matches the biometric data of the person holding it.

IWS™ Law Enforcement (formerly CCS): IWS Law Enforcement enables law enforcement officers to capture images including mug shots, scars, marks and tattoos, in addition to related text information. This information can then be:

  • Retrieved to create photo lineups and mug books
  • Generate wanted posters
  • Print employee, visitor or inmate ID cards and wristbands

To enhance the investigative process and identify potential suspects, officers can use IWS Law Enforcement’s optional facial recognition module. This module will take an image or digital composite and search the IWS Law Enforcement mug shot database for potential matches based on similarities in facial characteristics.
