ImageWare Systems, Inc. (AMEX:IW) is a leading developer and provider of identity management solutions, providing biometric, secure credential, law enforcement and digital imaging technologies. We have immediate opportunities for experienced JAVA Software Developers in our Canada office. The primary role of this position is to develop JAVA solution, JNI wrappers, and ensure J2EE compliance. The secondary role will be to assist in other software development related to our products as required.
Minimum Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
- 4+ years experience developing JAVA and web-based solutions including dealing with Java Native Interfaces; JSP; J2EE; relational databases such as Oracle and SQL Server; and developing commercial JAVA solutions for both Windows and Linux
Duties
- Participates in requirements assessment, definitions, and analysis
- Responsible for application design, coding, testing, and debugging
- Responsible for providing documentation to guide and assist the install, QA, and documentation groups in their tasks.
- Participates in maintaining our existing code base
- Ensures J2EE compliance
Skills, Knowledge and Ability:
- Experience with:
- ODBC and JDB
- Tomcat
- SOA
- Designing GUI
- Servlets a plus
- Experience with biometric capture devices including template manipulations
- Good understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance
- Ability to write detailed software design specifications from product specifications and requirements documentation
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with customers, suppliers, senior management, and other company personnel
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible on priorities while working accurately, with attention to detail, in a fast-paced environment
- Project planning and implementation
