ImageWare IWS™ Biometric Engine® Border Management solution to be used for multi-biometric identity management

SAN DIEGO, CA, June 6, 2006 - ImageWare® Systems, Inc. (AMEX: IW), a leading developer and provider of identity management solutions, today announced that the company’s IWS™ Biometric Engine™ Border Management solution has been selected as part of the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) biometrics field trial.

Under the terms of a subcontractor agreement, valued in excess of $500K, ImageWare’s IWS™ Biometric Engine® Border Management product will be deployed as part of a biometric field trial to test the operational impact of using multiple biometrics in the CIC immigration program. The CIC field trial will involve temporary resident visa applicants and refugee claimants, allowing CIC to help determine how biometrics could be used to enhance security and reduce the potential for identity fraud.

The IWS™ Biometric Engine® Border Management solution will include facial and fingerprint biometric capabilities for identification and verification purposes at designated ports in Canada including U.S./Canada border stations in B.C., Vancouver International Airport, a refugee processing center in Etobicoke, Ont., and Canadian immigration offices in Seattle and Hong Kong.

Searches can be 1:1 (verification), 1:N (identification), X:N (investigative) and N:N (enrollment integrity). IWS™ Biometric Engine® Border Management, coupled with the Biometric Engine Image Quality and Enhancement product, improves the accuracy and effectiveness of biometrics, increasing the biometric performance, and maintaining database and image integrity.
