ImageWare Systems Announces EPI Builder SDK 6.3; Enhanced Support For Passports, Driver Licenses, ICAO-compliant Travel Documents
SAN DIEGO, CA, January 14, 2004 - ImageWare Systems, Inc. (AMEX: IW),
a leading global provider of digital imaging, identification and biometrics solutions, today announced the immediate availability of EPI BuilderÒ 6.3 software developer’s kit (SDK). EPI Builder is a robust platform solution that enables application developers, system integrators and OEM customers to develop custom identification solutions or incorporate sophisticated ID functionality into existing applications.
EPI Builder 6.3 is designed specifically for high-end secure credential applications including passports, ICAO-compliant travel documents, driver licenses, national IDs, voter registration systems and other secure documents. Its open architecture enables developers to easily incorporate any ID functionality into applications while responding to shifting market demands and customer requirements. Additional functionality within EPI Builder includes:
- Support for International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) travel documents to include machine-readable bar codes in passports, emergency passports, visas and TD1/TD2 sized travel documents and comply with ICAO 9303 standards
- The ability to create, populate, print and encode AAMVA-compliant (American Association of Motor Vehicles Administration) driver licenses
- The ability to interchange biometrics and biometric devices without having to recode the entire application
- Customizable design capabilities
- Face finding tool that automatically locates a face within an image, and centers, crops and stores it to ensure image consistency
“We are very excited about the launch of EPI Builder 6.3,” said Joe Schuler, ImageWare’s SVP of sales and marketing. “The new features that are included in version 6.3 will make EPI Builder the SDK of choice for the development and implementation of large-scale ID projects such as of machine-readable passports, national IDs, voter registration systems and AAMVA-compliant driver licenses.”
To enable customers to quickly respond to rapidly shifting market requirements, EPI Builder comes with an open architecture that allows developers to quickly plug in new cameras, biometric devices, printers, bar codes, databases and encoders without having to recode the core application. In fact, biometric devices from different vendors can be substituted for one another or the type of biometric can be changed altogether (i.e. swap fingerprint for face). EPI Builder is also based on an open architecture that allows developers to use familiar tools and easy-to-use components to implement an ID solution. As a result, EPI Builder improves time to market by reducing learning curves and development cycles.
