SAN DIEGO, CA, August 19, 2002 - ImageWare Systems, Inc. (AMEX: IW) today announced that it has released the latest version of its identification software developer's kit, EPIBUILDER™ 6.0. Version 6.0 brings biometric integration capabilities, Web enabling, powerful plug-in architecture and professional-level card and document design to EPIBUILDER. EPIBUILDER gives software developers the tools they need to quickly and easily integrate ID badging into their access control, time and attendance, point of sale and human resource applications, among others. Version 6.0 enables developers to integrate biometric capabilities into their applications or substitute one biometric capability for another with minimal code. Biometric data from hand geometry, iris scans, facial and finger print recognition can be incorporated and stored in a smart chip, magstripe or 2D barcode for comparison with actual biometric data obtained from virtually any biometric reader. EPIDesigner, the EPIBUILDER 6.0 card design tool, allows for the ability to create designs for ID cards, visas, passports and other documents. Additional design capabilities include the ability to exclude printing on certain regions of a card, adjust layouts for different printers and to blend the foreground and background of a card together, making unauthorized duplication increasingly difficult. Additional functionality includes the ability to preview and print ID cards via an HTML page and upload or download ID card images and layouts via the Web. Expanded ActiveX and COM plug-in architecture allows for the ability to attach plug-ins for image capture, biometrics and more. "We live in an age when the focus on verifying and authenticating identity is at an all-time high," said Jim Miller, ImageWare chairman and CEO. "By incorporating biometric support and Web-based tools into our ID software developer's kit, we are ensuring that all developers will be empowered to integrate the most relevant, advanced identification technologies for the creation of ID cards, passports and visas into their programs."
