Countywide Project Will Implement ImageWare’s Mug shot, Identification and Investigative Solution
SAN DIEGO, CA, August 10, 2005 - ImageWare® Systems, Inc. (AMEX: IW), a world leading developer and provider of identity management solutions, has announced that the Company, as a subcontractor, will provide its IWS™ Law Enforcement solution to Fresno County Sheriff’s Department, Fresno Police Department and other Fresno County law enforcement organizations, which have joined resources in a regional partnership. Under the terms of its agreement, valued at over $320k, ImageWare’s IWS Law Enforcement solution will be integrated with an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) for the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department, enabling a more streamlined law enforcement identification process. By using IWS Law Enforcement, Fresno County Sheriff’s Department will be able to digitally capture, search, store and retrieve booking data and images including mug shots, scars, marks and tattoos (SMTs). Users will also have the ability to conduct Web-based investigative searches to speed the suspect identification process. IWS Law Enforcement solution also employs facial recognition technology to take an image or digital composite and search mug shot databases for potential matches based on similarities in facial characteristics and also integrates seamlessly with existing FBI, DMV, RMS, JMS, AFIS or other systems to capture live, scanned or imported images, as well as arrest and demographic data.
