ImageWare biometric, booking and investigative solutions used by more than 900 law enforcement organizations worldwide including Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) and New South Wales Police Department (NSWPD) SAN DIEGO, CA, November 12, 2004 - ImageWare® Systems, Inc. (AMEX: IW), a global leader in identity management solutions, today announced that it will showcase real-world law enforcement implementations at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference on November 13 – 17 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Calif. ImageWare will demonstrate its multi-biometric, identification and investigative platforms currently used worldwide by more than 900 law enforcement organizations including the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), New South Wales Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). Attendees can view live demonstrations in Booth #248. “ImageWare’s law enforcement and biometric technologies have been invaluable to LASD and the County,” said Sgt. Larry Bryant of LASD. “It has liberated our investigators from historical, time-consuming manual searches and lineup creation. Our investigators now have the ability to conduct real-time searches against Countywide databases including the department’s Consolidated Criminal History Reporting System. Additionally, the use of IWS’ biometric technology has become a vital component in assisting our investigators with suspect identification.” Demonstrations will include the use, features and benefits surrounding the company’s IWS™ Law Enforcement, formerly Crime Capture System (CCS), and its IWS™ Biometric Engine® solutions. The IWS Law Enforcement is a complete digital booking, identification and investigative solution that enable law enforcement organizations to capture, store and retrieve images and related data. Its comprehensive investigative components include capabilities such as fingerprint Livescan, Web-based investigations and the ability to save lineups along with witness and viewing session information. The IWS Law Enforcement also supports real-time data sharing by allowing critical data to be accessed via PC, Web-based and wireless platforms. The IWS™ Biometric Engine® is a scalable multi-biometric engine that enables the enrollment and management of unlimited population sizes. It specifically addresses mission-critical security applications and enables organizations to conduct multi-modal, comparative biometric searches including exhaustive (1:n), specific (1:1) or investigative (x:n). Supporting ID management initiatives, the IWS Biometric engine can be deployed across a wide array of industries and applications including national ID, driver license, border control, amusement and events, and other identity management systems. "ImageWare is raising the bar on law enforcement solutions by providing much more than just digital booking and mug shot capabilities,” said ImageWare’s CEO Jim Miller. “ We are tapping into the power of biometrics and providing the most comprehensive multi-biometric and investigative platforms that meets law enforcement’s ever-changing policing needs. We look forward to demonstrating the results of our dynamic law enforcement and investigative solutions at IACP. Attendees will be able to see the latest multi-biometric, investigative and booking applications that enable law enforcement organizations to streamline the booking, identification and investigative procedures.” LASD is currently utilizing the IWS™ Law Enforcement identification and investigative solution, including biometric capabilities, to conduct large-scale and local investigations. This streamlines LASD’s policing procedures, enabling the Department to create online mug books and lineups as well as conduct text-based and facial recognition searches via a secure law enforcement intranet, which includes a wireless network. ImageWare also developed several interconnects that allow LASD to interface with multiple databases including County records; CalPhoto, a Statewide network of mug shot and DMV photos; and the department’s CCHRS (Consolidated Criminal History Reporting System), a unique application that allows the courts and criminal justice agencies in Los Angeles County to positively identify criminal suspects and defendants, and instantaneously obtain their criminal histories. With these interconnects, LASD is able to share critical information and view specific images directly from one application without accessing different systems separately.
