ImageWare Adds FBI Veteran, David Loesch, To Board

SAN DIEGO, CA, October 2, 2001 - ImageWare Systems, Inc. (AMEX:IW) today announced the addition of David R. Loesch, 57, to its board of directors, increasing the total number of members to six.

Mr. Loesch recently retired as Assistant Director in Charge of the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He was appointed to that position by FBI Director Freeh, with the concurrence of Attorney General Janet Reno, in 1999. Mr. Loesch began his investigative career with the FBI in 1972 as a Special Agent. He rose through the ranks, serving in a number of supervisory and management positions at the field and headquarters level. He was promoted to the Senior Executive Service in December 1994 and assigned to the CJIS Division, where he served as a Section Chief and Deputy Assistant Director prior to his appointment as Assistant Director. He was awarded the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Executive in 1998. Mr. Loesch served in the U.S. Army as an officer with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. He earned a bachelor's degree from Canisius College, in Buffalo, NY, and a master's degree in criminal justice from George Washington University.
