SAN DIEGO, CA, March 1, 2006 - ImageWare® Systems, Inc. (AMEX: IW), a leading developer and provider of identity management solutions, today announced that the Company’s IWS™ Biometric Engine® Mobile Acquisition Identity Management solution has received certification from the FBI, providing integrated ten-print based fingerprint management for civil and law enforcement use. With this certification, government, law enforcement and public safety organizations now have the ability to deploy field-proven biometric identity management capabilities from remote locations that meets the FBI’s highest level of Image Quality Specifications (IQS) for submittal to its Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS). The certification was obtained using the Cross Match Lite-Ue fingerprint/palmprint livescan device. The IWS™ Biometric Engine® Mobile Acquisition solution is deployed as the platform for mobile field acquisition, enrollment and matching of multiple biometrics, including face, single fingerprint, livescan fingerprint, writer’s palmprint, iris, signature, voice, and DNA within a single integrated environment. “With this certification in place, ImageWare’s Biometric Engine now has the ability to provide worldwide customers and partners with the unique capabilities of enrolling, searching and matching identities biometrically with seven unique biometric types simultaneously in the field, in real-time and with the knowledge that all of the captured data will meet the exacting requirements for data capture set by the FBI,” said Jim Miller, ImageWare’s chairman and CEO. Livescan allows users to capture single to ten prints and palm data, providing an integrated biometric management for civil and law enforcement use. By adding livescan capabilities, law enforcement organizations further enhance the investigative process by providing additional identifiers to identify suspects involved in a crime. All biometric information including images will be located at a central designation and then sent to the appropriate AFIS system. The IWS™ Biometric Engine®’s multi-biometric enrollment, management and authentication platform allows users to biometrically search and match populations of unlimited sizes for identity confirmation. Searches can be 1:1 (Verification), 1:N (Identification), X:N (Investigative) and N:N (Population Management). IWS™ Biometric Engine® is technology agnostic, enabling users to employ biometric devices and algorithms from virtually any vendor, as well as support the combination of the following biometric types, including: single fingerprint, livescan fingerprint, 2D face, 3D face, iris, palmscan, finger vein, palm vein, hand geometry, palm, DNA, signature, voice, and retina. The IWS™ Biometric Engine® currently supports 93 devices and methods of biometric acquisition and 65 biometric algorithms.
