ImageWare to Supply New York Police Department with Expanded Digitized Photo-Imaging System
SAN DIEGO, CA, February 24, 2000 - ImageWare Systems, Inc. (AMEX:IW) a leader and innovator of digital imaging solutions for law enforcement was recently awarded additions to their sub-contract with the New York Police Department. The modification includes delivery of a Digital Camera Capture system, an ID Badging/Access Control system, plus an additional mugshot display station for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
For the new Digital Camera Capture project, ImageWare will create a custom application that provides NYPD with a method for capturing booking photographs for Desk Appearance Ticket (DAT) offenders at each precinct. The Windows-based solution will allow NYPD to capture an offender's photograph via a digital camera, and to store the photographs on ImageWare's existing central digital booking system servers for future viewings and investigations.
As a subcontractor to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), ImageWare originally worked on the Warrant and Integrated Digitized Photo-Imaging System for NYPD. ImageWare supplied the digital booking component for that system, which averages in excess of 1,000 bookings per day. This innovative system includes an electronic interface to the court system, as well as components for Warrants, subsystems for Intelligence and Missing Persons data, and online case management.
SAIC, a diversified high technology research and engineering company based in San Diego, California, will again act as the prime contractor for the two new projects. SAIC offers a broad range of expertise in technology development and analysis, computer system development and integration, technical support services, and computer hardware and software products.
