SAN DIEGO, CA, February 7, 2006 - ImageWare® Systems, Inc. (AMEX: IW), a world leading developer and provider of identity management solutions, today announced that David W. Carey, the former Executive Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has joined the company’s Board of Directors. “David brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and expertise in the security and technology industry, and represents an invaluable resource in our efforts to expand government endeavors specifically in the Intelligence and Homeland Security arena,” said Jim Miller, chairman and CEO. “David is a strong visionary leader and we are very excited to have him on our board.” “Jim and his team have done a great job in positioning ImageWare as the most scalable biometric and identity management solutions provider in the world,” said Mr. Carey. “I have been particularly impressed with the company’s Biometric Engine™ and their commitment to a hardware and vendor agnostic, multi-biometric solution. I am looking forward to working with ImageWare and contributing to its success.” Mr. Carey currently serves as Executive Director for Blackbird Technologies, where he assists the company, which provides state-of-the-art IT security expertise, with business development and strategic planning. Prior to joining Blackbird Technologies, Mr. Carey was Vice President, Information Assurance for Oracle Corporation. In addition, Mr. Carey worked for the CIA for 32 years. During his career at the CIA, Mr. Carey held several senior positions including that of Executive Director, often referred to as the Chief Operating Officer, or No.3 person in the agency from 1997 to 2001. Before assuming that position, Mr. Carey was Director of the DCI Crime and Narcotics Center, the Director of the Office of Near Eastern and South Asian Analysis, and Deputy Director of the Office of Global Issues. Mr. Carey is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Delaware.
