ImageWare to demonstrate its award-winning IWS™ Biometric Engine® and support for FIPS-201 PIV SAN DIEGO, CA, April 18, 2006 - ImageWare Systems, Inc. (AMEX: IW), a leading developer and provider of identity management solutions, is exhibiting at the 5th Annual Smart Cards in Government Conference where the company will showcase its award-winning IWS™ Biometric Engine® along with its Federal Information Processing 201 (FIPS-201) Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Solution and related identity management products. The 5th Annual Smart Cards in Government Conference, an industry event focused on the business and technical requirements of government smart cards, is hosted by the Smart Card Alliance and held at the Sheraton Hotel in Arlington, VA on April 18 – 20. In addition, ImageWare’s CTO, Dave Harding, will be speaking on a panel entitled Roadmap to FIPS 201 Implementation: What Industry Wants You to Know on April 20 at 10:45 a.m. Mr. Harding will focus on the Capturing and Managing of Biometrics as it relates to FIPS 201. The ImageWare PIV solution, which incorporates the company’s award-winning IWS™ Biometric Engine® and secure credentialing product suite, offers a complete solution to support PIV-I and PIV-II business processes, technical requirements, as well as the ability to partner with leading physical and logical access control vendors for logistics and deployment considerations. ImageWare will also be demonstrating the flexibility and scalability of its identity management solutions including its IWS™ Biometric Engine®, which recently received Frost & Sullivan’s Product Innovation of the Year Award for the Biometrics market. According to Frost & Sullivan, ImageWare’s open architecture platform approach is poised to become a defacto standard as it has the competitive advantage of supporting the widest range of hardware devices and software algorithms. The IWS™ Biometric Engine® is a biometric identity management platform for multi-biometric searching and matching that is scalable, technology agnostic and allows organizations to manage population databases of unlimited sizes. The IWS™ Biometric Engine®’s multi-biometric enrollment, management and authentication platform allows users to search and match tens of millions of biometrics for identity confirmation. Searches can be 1:1 (verification), 1:N (identification), X:N (investigative) and N:N (enrollment integrity). The IWS™ Biometric Engine® is available as part of a Web-based, biometric enrollment, identification, verification and investigative application or as a platform that enables system integrators to build custom identity management applications or incorporate biometric enrollment, search and authentication functionality into existing applications including but not limited to, ICAO-compliant travel documents, PIV-compliant credentials, border control, airport security, driver licenses, national IDs, and civil and criminal background checks. The 5th Annual Smart Cards in Government Conference 2006 will join leaders from federal government and industry in an interactive, instructive forum on the business and technical requirements of government smart cards -- including the government’s roll out of federal and state agency employee identity cards, ePassports, registered traveler cards, driver’s licenses, and first responder credentials.
