Navy's TBCMS team honored

Mar 19, 2008 8:42 PM

SAN DIEGO, March 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy's Tactical Biometric Collection and Matching System team, employing technologies developed by ImageWare Systems, has received a performance award.

Navy officials say the TBCMS team recently received a technology excellence and superior performance Technology-to-Sea Excellence Award given out by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren. The TBCMS team uses California-based ImageWare's trademarked IWS Biometric Engine platform identity management technology. ImageWare is the prime contractor of the TBCMS project.

"The IWS Biometric Engine is a multi-biometric identity management solution used by government and commercial enterprises to biometrically search and match populations of unlimited sizes for identity confirmation," the release said.

Officials say the biometric technology developed for the TBCMS project is an effort to enable mobile, multi-biometric identity management ruggedized for identity verification, watch-list management and existing biometric population management among other Navy mission-critical objectives.
