Compatible Hardware
NOTE: All Compatible Hardware
testing has been performed on 32-bit operating systems unless indicated
otherwise.
This site details the results of ImageWare's hardware compatibility testing. These results are not intended as an endorsement or recommendation of a specific unit, but rather as an impartial report on how a unit operates with ImageWare's EPI Suite and/or EPI Builder product line.
It is recommended that you review all the information accessible from this page to determine if you can use the unit for your specific purposes.
Note regarding the legend:
A unit recorded as "compatible" may have negligible issues that do not affect a majority of clients but may impact your specific installation. Similarly, problems associated with a unit that has a "Note" status may be used if you are not planning to use the specific feature that has been noted.

Usage notes:
- If using the Guardraw K panel button on text, photograph or monochrome images like signature, don't use a fill color other than white or the items will come out entirely black.
- For encoding you must draw a text item on your card design with the data field or expression to be encoded and select one of the 3 fonts for encoding (They are named Track 1 Mag stripe, Track 2 Mag stripe, and Track 3 mag stripe) These fonts are install by the printer driver.
|
Failure notes:
- Ghosting , Cameo, Exact match, HI not working on 8, 16, 24 bit images.
- Intermittent problem to print monochrome image, the signature text is barely visible or signature text is not printing . Signature must be saved as JPG for better printout result.
- Signature text color not working. The text will still print but not in the proper color.
- If use black as text fill color, the text box will print out entirely black, this problem is reproducable in MsWord.
- Image prints entirely black with K button enable.
- The `s needed to encode a magnetic stripe are not install by the printer driver on Windows NT4, so you can not encode.

Usage notes:
- Image prints entirely black with K button enable.
- If using the Guardraw K panel button on text items don't use a fill color other than white or the items will come out entirely black.
- Using a background image considerably slow down the transfer time from the PC to printer to up to 2 minutes.
|
Failure notes:
- Ghosting , Cameo, Exact match, HI not working on 8, 16, 24 bit images.
- Monochrome images do not print. Signatures are affected, they must be saved as JPEG compress in the database prior to be print
- Encoding fails with SDK 5.0, fixed with SDK 5.1. If configure all tracks in card layout, must send data on all tracks. Fails to encode if only send data on track 2. OK if only send data on track 1. Workaround is to disable track 1 on card layout if not required.
- Fill color and text color are not working on one bit bitmap. (signature image).
- Background fails to print on portrait oriented cards.

- Random problem with monochrome signature, they may print without the appropriate color or not print at all. Only black signature will print properly by using a ribbon option that use the K panel only. To avoid problems, save the signatures as JPG in the database before printing.
signatures as JPG in the database before printing.
- Must use Ribbon set without K plane or use ribbon set that has an option that will skip the K panel for Ghosting, Cameo, Exact match, HI image properties to work properly. This will impact barcodes and black text to print on composite black if placed on the cardÂ’s front side using YMCKT ribbon set.
- System fonts do not print if use 180 degree text rotation.

Usage notes:
- Images that have the Close-cropping effect enabled do not print properly unless the Transparency level is set to a value greater than 0. Using a Transparency value of 1 should produce printed results that are visually similar to level 0. However some Z-order errors may still be present. `
- For Text objects, formats created for other printers and moved to this printer, may cause the test to be sent to the Magnetic Stripe. This behavior can be changed by changing the font from original to a new font, then saving, then changing the font back to the original.
- Objects that print from the K Panel that should be obscured by another object printed from the YMC Panels, may not be properly obscured.

- Text box print entirely black if black is being use as fill color.
- There is an outstanding issue regarding the magstripe encoding which cannot be perform because the printer special encoding fonts are not install under Windows NT4. To encode magnetic stripe data in NT, use an application with magnetic stripe encoding via the Datacard application programming interface (API). Datacard recommends to try with the Select printer SDK driver.

Usage notes:
- For Optimal edge to edge printing, card size needs to be set to full printer page in card layout.
- You may experience print quality issues when printer has been idle for a lengthy period of time. Quality does return after a few cards have been printed.
- For black text and barcodes we recommend using the K panel.
- Printing may be delayed when alternating between dual and single sided print jobs. This occurs due to the heating and cooling of the transfer rollers.
- When installing the laminate cartridges, make sure that the blue levers are locked in place. You will receive Lam feed errors if this is not done.

Usage notes:
- System font does not print correctly when the font size is 48. To work around this issue, you must exclude this font from being printed on the K Panel through the printer driver.
- Edge-to-edge printing does not consistently cover the entire card, leaving a very fine area on the leading and trailing edges of the card. This only occurs when covering the entire background with a picture or color.
- An updated encoding file is available for download on the EPI Suite Support Page in the EPI Encoding Files section.

Usage notes:
- For optimal performance, alignment offsets need to be adjusted differently for landscape and portrait cards.
- 5% of cards printed had an issue with the laminate adhering completely. A small adjustment from 2 sec/per inch to 3 sec/per inch to the Transfer Dwell Time corrected the issue.
- When printing on both sides on Edge-to-Edge cards, Page Setup in the print formats need to be set to Full Printer Page.
