IWS has tested our Law Enforcement components in Virtual environments. While our testing has been favorable, the complex and diverse nature of Virtual Machine hosting and configuration options, as well as the diverse suppliers of Virtual Machine software packages, it is impossible for IWS to warranty the function and/or performance of our server side components within all possible Virtual environments. As such, those agencies desiring to use Virtual environments to host any or all of their IWS server-side components must accept a more active role in troubleshooting of server-side issue, must accept that application performance issues are outside the responsibility of IWS, and must accept that there may be any number of issues with the environment for which the agency must take responsibility. Agencies are strongly advised that they should still carry software maintenance on their IWS LE server-side components. However, they should also be aware that IWS will not be able to warranty function or support the Virtual environments independently. For Agencies that carry IWS server-side Maintenance Contracts and whose servers are Virtual, IWS Help Desk will endeavor to support and advise the agency with any server issues that come up. However the Agency accepts that, by installing the software in Virtual environments, the ultimate responsibility for certain issues, designated at the discretion of IWS, will remain with the Agency.
