Biometric Technology for Today
The IWS Biometric Engine® is a scalable, agnostic, multi-modal biometric technology for identity management that ensures only valid individuals gain access to controlled areas or obtain secure documents.
The IWS Biometric Engine is available as part of a web-based, biometric enrollment, and biometric identification technology. It is also available as a Software Developer’s Kit (SDK) that enables system integrators to build custom biometric identification and verification applications or incorporate biometric technology enrollment, search, and authentication functionality into existing applications.
What is biometric technology? Biometric technology is a system that can identify a person based on what a person has, rather than knows. The most well-known biometric technology factor is the fingerprint. However, there are many other common factors as well, such as voice, face, iris, gait, and even veins. The IWS Biometric Engine uses one or more of these biometric technology factors to conduct 1:1 biometric searches to verify an individual’s identity, 1:n searches to identify an individual within a population, and x:n investigative searches against watch lists and/or black lists. It is agnostic in biometric algorithm and hardware; it manages tens of millions of individuals using standard off-the-shelf hardware, minimizing the cost of ownership.
